San Jose Sharks Rumors: Latest On the Erik Karlsson Trade Talk
Erik Karlsson was one of the biggest names in the rumor mill leading up to the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, but a move did not occur. However, things are expected to change on that front this summer, as Pierre LeBrun of TSN Insider Trading reported that Karlsson and the San Jose Sharks are on the same page about getting a trade finalized.

The Sharks would be wise to work quickly and move Karlsson. His trade value has notably improved after his 101-point season. Although his cap hit is extremely expensive ($11.5 million AAV until 2026-27), the Sharks are expected to retain a portion of his salary, which in turn, will only help strengthen Karlsson's value even further.
The Sharks are rebuilding, so it makes sense that Karlsson wants a new home. His preference is naturally playing for a contender, as he is on the wrong side of 30 and is still looking for his first Stanley Cup ring. Unfortunately, playing in San Jose will not lead to that.
We will now need to wait and see what happens with Karlsson from here, but do not be surprised if a trade comes to fruition shortly.
