TRADE: Flyers Finalize Deal To Send Kevin Hayes To The St. Louis Blues

The Philadelphia Flyers are trading forward Kevin Hayes to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Hayes is currently under contract through the 2025-26 season, with an average annual salary of $7.14 million. Philadelphia is retaining 50%.

Last week, there were reports that Hayes was close to being traded to the St. Louis Blues.

However, a St. Louis defenseman with a no-trade clause prevented the deal from happening. The defenseman in question was believed to be Torey Krug.

The status of the trade was then made unknown, as the teams tried to find a solution, which was thought to involve enticing Krug to waive his no-trade clause or involving a third team.

It now appears the two sides have finally worked it out, in a much less dramatic fashion, however.

Hayes is coming off the best season of his career, as well as the first All-Star selection of his career, which saw him record 18 goals and 54 points across 81 games played in his fourth season in Philadelphia.

The 31-year-old will now open his 10th season in St. Louis.
