3 Bold Predictions for the Pittsburgh Penguins' 2023-24 Season

Welcome to our new predictions series where we'll make three bold predictions for each NHL team next season. From individual point totals, big trades from GM's or Stanley Cup Playoff success, we'll cover it all as we dive into all 32 teams.

The series heads to Pittsburgh today to get some happy feet with the Penguins. Kyle Dubas is running the show now and has already put his fingerprints over the roster, adding some serious depth this summer. Some tweaks will continue and Dubas is going to be active throughout next season. Here's three bold predictions for the Penguins' 2023-24 season:

Jeff Carter Doesn't Finish the Season in Pittsburgh

Last season was rough for Carter as there were stretches throughout the season when he disappeared. Fans are getting restless waiting for change to the bottom six and while Carter is likely starting on the third line next season, expect to see him off the team by the trade deadline. He's a pending unrestricted free agent who is in the final steps of the back nine of his career.

Dubas Trades Penguins '24 First-Round Pick

If you want to guess someone's future, start with their past. Dubas loves moving draft picks and would ship them out on the regular in Toronto. He'll do the same next season as the Penguins are going all in. Look for Dubas to add a major piece to the back end in Pittsburgh and likely a defenseman with some term left on their contract.

Tristan Jarry Has a Monster Season

With a new contract extension, Jarry is motivated as ever to prove himself next season. He's cemented himself as the number one goalie and now knows he's here to stay. Jarry posted a 24-13-7 record with a 2.90 goals-against average last season and will build off this in 2023-24. Look for Jarry to hit 35 wins and keep his GAA under 2.50.
