3 Bruins Who Could Replace Patrice Bergeron as Captain

Longtime Boston Bruins star Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement. The 38-year-old had an excellent career and will forever be remembered as one of their top players and leaders. With this news, the Bruins are now without a captain, but they do have some worthy candidates who could sport the "C." Let's discuss them now.

Brad Marchand: Brad Marchand stands out as a prime candidate to take over the captaincy role. The 35-year-old is one of the Bruins' biggest stars and has spent the entirety of his 947-game career with the team. He also has emerged as a strong leader over the years, so don't be surprised if he ends up being their next captain.

Charlie McAvoy: If the Bruins want to go with a younger captain, Charlie McAvoy stands out. He is the rock of the Bruins' defensive group and has become one of their top leaders as well. He is also under contract until the end of the 2029-30 season, so he would have the role for a very long time.

David Pastrnak: David Pastrnak could also be in the running for the "C." The superstar forward is the Bruins' top player, and GM Don Sweeney noted earlier this summer that they expect Pasta to be a big leader this season. After signing his big eight-year deal, perhaps he could be their next captain.
