3 Free-Agent Destinations for LW/RW Tyler Motte
The NHL's free agency period is a week old and most of the top talent has found a new home. There's several players across the league now who are looking for new contracts and trying to get re-signed by their old clubs. Forward Tyler Motte is in this boat and is looking for a new deal for next season. Here's where the checking winger may end up:
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs are trying to become tougher to play against and could be a perfect landing spot for Motte. They have a couple of open spots on the third and fourth line which will be won at training camp in the fall. Motte finished last season with the New York Rangers, recording 10 points in 24 games. He hits everything that moves, he works his tail off and he's the type of grinder Toronto could use more of.
Would love to see the #LeafsForever sign Tyler Motte today as a bargain bin free agent. 4th liner who plays bigger than his size. Versatile player with good speed and isn’t afraid to be physical and get in-front of pucks.

Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are also looking for bottom-six help and could give Motte a look. He'd come in around $1 million and showed last season, in the second half with the Rangers, he's capable of chipping in on the offense more than he's given credit for. The Oilers have $5.6 million in cap space and could easily fit Motte in.
Vancouver Canucks
Motte spent 4.5 years in Vancouver and was a big part of their culture. He's a pro's pro who shows up to the rink to work. The Canucks need to figure out their finances as they are still pressed up against the cap and it's likely if they are interested in Motte, it's bringing him into training camp on a PTO. The Oilers and Leafs could offer one-year deals later this summer and try and land the checking winger at the a discounted rate.
