Arizona Coyotes Signing Forward to Contract Extension
According to NHL insider Kevin Weekes, the Arizona Coyotes are progressing on a three-year contract extension with Matias Maccelli.
Maccelli is coming off of a breakout season with the Coyotes. In 64 games played, the 22-year-old winger posted 11 goals to go along with 49 points. Now, based on this report from Weekes, Maccelli is set to earn a multi-year deal because of his strong play.
Maccelli displayed this season that he has the tools to be a top-six forward in this league, and now he will be looking to take another step forward in 2023-24. If he continues to trend in the direction he has been, he should be a major part of the Coyotes' core moving forward.
We will need to wait for the specific details of Maccelli's new deal to come out, but don't be surprised if the Coyotes pay him well. The 2019 fourth-round pick has earned a raise due to the campaign he just put together for them.
