Best Free-Agent Goaltenders Still Available On Day 2

The goalie market took a big hit on the first day of free agency. Netminders like Tristan Jarry, Frederik Andersen, Semyon Varlamov, Joonas Korpisalo, and Antti Raanta have all been signed. Yet, there are still some decent UFA goalie available. Let's discuss the best of them.

Martin Jones: Martin Jones is still looking for his new home, but things could change on that front soon. The 33-year-old put together a solid 27-13-3 record with the Seattle Kraken in 2022-23 but also had a rough .887 SV%. Teams looking for a backup or possible fringe starter will be calling.

Jaroslav Halak: Jaroslav Halak has made it clear that he wants to continue his career, as he is only 5 wins away from reaching 300 for his career. A return to the New York Rangers won't be happening, as they brought in Jonathan Quick. However, after his decent 2022-23 campaign, other clubs should be interested.

Thomas Greiss: Thomas Greiss is still looking for a new home at the time of this writing. He has served as a solid backup netminder throughout his career but also had a down year with the St. Louis Blues in 2022-23. Still could see him landing a league-minimum deal, regardless.

Brian Elliott: Brian Elliott spent the last two seasons as the backup of Andrei Vasilevskiy with the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, after a rough 2022-23 season, his return is not guaranteed. Yet, given his past success, a team could be willing to sign him to a cheap one-year deal.
