Boston Bruins Sign Recent Trade Addition
The Boston Bruins have one less restricted free agent, as they have signed Ian Mitchell to a one-year, $775,000 contract.
Mitchell was one of the pieces that the Bruins got back in the Taylor Hall salary dump trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. The 24-year-old filed for arbitration last week, but now he and the Bruins have agreed to this new deal.
Mitchell will now be looking to make the Bruins' roster out of training camp. After signing Kevin Shattenkirk, the Bruins are likely looking at Mitchell to potentially be their seventh defenseman.
Mitchell spent this past season with the Blackhawks, posting one goal, seven assists, and a minus-8 rating in 35 games played. The Alberta native will now be looking to take that next step in his development but as a member of the Bruins.
In 82 career NHL games, Mitchell has four goals, 12 assists, 16 points, and a minus-21 rating.
