Boston Bruins Rumors: Matt Grzelcyk Linked to Eastern Conference Team
According to Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now, sources informed him that Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk could be part of the Pittsburgh Penguins' backup plan if they miss out on Erik Karlsson.
Grzelcyk has come up in the rumor mill quite often this offseason. It is understandable, as he is entering the final season of his contract and the Bruins need more cap space. As a result, it makes sense that the Penguins are possibly considering him as a target.
The Penguins could use another puck-moving left-shot defenseman. Grzelcyk would be a decent option for their top four because of this if acquired.
Appearing in 75 games last season with the Bruins, Grzelcyk posted four goals, 26 points, and a plus-46 rating.
Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Penguins end up making a big push for Grzelcyk. On paper, there could be a good match here, but time will tell what happens with Karlsson first.
