Buffalo Sabres Re-Sign Forward
The Buffalo Sabres have signed Linus Weissbach to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $775,000 cap hit.
Weissbach is an intriguing player who could get some consideration for an NHL call-up this upcoming season. After posting 37 points with the Rochester Americans in 67 games in 2021-22, Weissbach took a step forward in 2022-23, recording 47 points in 69 games. If he continues to improve, perhaps he could see time in the NHL next year. If not, he will continue to be a solid AHL player for them.
Weissbach was the Sabres' last remaining restricted free agent, so now Buffalo can focus their attention elsewhere.
Alas, we will need to wait and see how well Weissbach performs for the Sabres organization in 2022-23. At worst, he will continue to be a decent depth player in their system, so there is nothing risky about this re-signing in the slightest.
