Calgary Flames Rumors: 2 Teams Linked to Noah Hanifin

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin is one of the most-talked-about trade candidates in the NHL right now. The Massachusetts native has made it known that he will not re-sign with the Flames next summer, thus making a trade quite likely. The Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres are two clubs linked to the 26-year-old.

The Panthers have made several additions to their defensive group this offseason. Yet, when looking at their left side, it is apparent that they could use another top-four defenseman, so it makes sense that Hanifin is on their radar. He would easily become their best left-shot defenseman if acquired and be a key contributor to both their power play and penalty kill.

The Sabres are a team on the rise and will be aiming to break their 12-year playoff drought in 2023-24. After adding Connor Clifton and Erik Johnson in free agency, their defensive group is starting to look better, but it is apparent that they need one more high-impact defenseman to help their chances of competing in the deep Atlantic Division. Hanifin would give them another excellent option for their first or second pairing.
