Carolina Hurricanes Sign Gritty Winger
The Carolina Hurricanes have made a notable addition to their forward group, signing Michael Bunting to a three-year, $13.5 million cap hit.
Bunting was one of the more notable UFAs in this year's class, so he was getting a lot of attention. The Toronto Maple Leafs were looking to bring him back, but in the end, Bunting is now a Hurricane.
Bunting is going to give the Hurricanes' second line a nice jolt. Besides being a solid offensive contributor, he also plays a heavy game. This will make a nice player to have once the playoffs come around for the Hurricanes.
Bunting is coming off of a solid season that saw him post 23 goals and 49 points in 82 games. He also was very engaged in the physical side of the game, recording 103 penalty minutes.
Alas, we will need to wait and see how well Bunting performs for the Hurricanes from here. On paper, there looks to be a great match here.
