Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: 2 Offseason Trade Targets

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' Offseason Trade Targets series. During it, we will take a look at two players that each team around the league should consider targeting before the start of the 2023-24 season.

In this first edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Chicago Blackhawks.

TJ Brodie: The Toronto Maple Leafs have to move out salary before the start of the season, and TJ Brodie has been discussed in the rumor mill because of it. The Blackhawks have shown that they are very open to bringing in veterans to help mentor their younger players, so perhaps Brodie could make sense as a target. The left side of their defensive group needs a notable boost, and Brodie would give them that.

Derek Forbort: The Boston Bruins are also in a cap crunch. Derek Forbort has been discussed in the rumor mill. When noting that he is a bottom-pairing defenseman carrying a $3 million cap hit, the Blackhawks could have him for very little. He would be a nice addition to their bottom pairing and a key contributor to their penalty kill if acquired.
