Colorado Avalanche Have 3 Options Left To Fill Landeskog Hole In Free Agency

The Colorado Avalanche will most likely be without their captain Gabriel Landeskog for the entire 2023-24 season, which means they have cap space to add another top-six winger. They have already made some moves to add some secondary scoring after no help was given in the playoffs, but they could even add more.

There are only three players who could really make an impact on the scoresheet that remain available in free agency and wouldn't require long contracts. Those players being Patrick Kane, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Tomas Tatar. Kane is working hard to recover from hip surgery and put up 21 goals and 57 points in 73 games last season, but on a very bad team. Tarasenko scored 18 goals and 50 points in 69 games, and Tatar recorded 20 goals and 48 points in 82 games. All three are strong options and might be willing to sign for one year and get a better payday when the cap goes up in 2024.

While Tarasenko has been linked to a couple of teams not named Colorado, the other two seem to be wide open and available for the taking if they so choose. The Avalanche are a highly offensive team that is in need of a top-six winger and will very likely once again be in the playoff picture. While Kane and Tarasenko are Stanley Cup champions already, Tatar is looking for his first. There aren't many strong teams that can afford any of them, so pickings are slim and in the Avalanche's favour.
