Colorado Avalanche Sign 2 Forwards
The Colorado Avalanche have added to their forward group, signing Jonathan Drouin and Miles Wood.
Drouin's contract has not been announced yet, but NHL insider Bob McKenzie reported that the 2013 first-round pick is Colorado bound. This move will reunite Drouin with Nathan MacKinnon.
Drouin is finally getting the change of scenery he has needed for many years. In 58 games last season with the Montreal Canadiens, the 28-year-old posted two goals to go along with 27 assists. He should be in the running to play in Colorado's middle six, but perhaps they could even give him some reps with MacKinnon due to their past chemistry.
Wood, on the other hand, has landed a big deal for a bottom-six forward, signing a six-year, $15 million contract. You don't often see bottom-six wingers get long-term deals like this one, but clearly the Avalanche like what they see from Wood.
Wood appeared in 76 games last season for the New Jersey Devils, posting 13 goals and 27 points. Overall, he provides decent secondary scoring to go along with plenty of grit.
Let's see how these two perform for the Avalanche from here.
