Edmonton Oilers Rumors: Insider Names 2 Possible Targets

In a recent article for The Athletic, Allan Mitchell wrote that Tomas Tatar or Paul Stastny could be good fits in the Edmonton Oilers' bottom six.

The Oilers have two key RFAs in Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard who they need to sign. That is going to take up a significant portion of their cap space, so Tatar or Stastny would need to be willing to take a cheap deal to make an Edmonton signing occur. Out of this pair, Stastny is probably the more likely candidate to be open to taking an affordable deal.

Stastny, 37, spent this past season with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he posted nine goals to go along with 22 points in 73 games. Overall, it was a quiet year from the veteran, but he also only a year removed from posting a 45-point campaign. Thus, perhaps he could be a player worth taking a shot on.

Tatar, on the other hand, spent this past season with the New Jersey Devils, posting 20 goals and 48 points in 82 games. He is likely still expecting a decent payday, so it would take a lot of convincing for him to take a cheap deal to play for the Oilers.

We will need to wait and see if either of these two players end up becoming Oilers before the end of the summer from here.
