Former Colorado Avalanche Forward Signs Overseas
One of the top free-agent forwards still left has found a new home, and it is not in the NHL. Denis Malgin has signed a five-year contract with the ZSC Lions of the National League.
Malgin returned to the NHL this past season after spending the two previous campaigns in the NL. In 65 games split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche, the 26-year-old posted 13 goals and 21 points in 65 games. Overall, it was a decent year for the 2015 fourth-round pick, but now he is heading back to Switzerland.
When noting that this is a long-term contract overseas, it seems likely that we have seen Malgin play his final NHL game. Now, the 26-year-old will be playing back home and will be a major part of the Lions' roster moving forward.
In five NHL seasons, Malgin had 41 goals, 40 assists, and 81 points in 257 career games played split between the Florida Panthers, Maple Leafs, and Avalanche.
