Golden Knights Re-Sign Forward After Impressive Playoff Run

A breakout playoff performance on the way to a Stanley Cup has won Vegas Golden Knights forward Brett Howden a nice two-year contract extension.

The deal totals $3.8M, with a $1.9M AAV for Howden, and avoids impending arbitration. He'll become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the contract in 2025.

The 25-year-old Howden, in 22 playoff games this spring, nearly matched his entire regular season output in 54 games. After the birth of his first son on April 13th, Howden suddenly became a key contributor to the Golden Knights' attack, with five goals and 10 points in 22 games, including an overtime winner in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

His speed, forechecking and penalty-killing prowess served him well, and Howden thrived on a line with Mark Stone and Chandler Stephenson, where he'll likely line up again next season.

The timing on his new deal couldn't be better, as word has it that his day with the Stanley Cup is this coming Sunday.
