New York Islanders Re-Sign Young Forward
The New York Islanders have signed Oliver Wahlstrom to a one-year, $874,125 contract.
Wahlstrom agreed to his qualifying offer, which is a real win for the Islanders. The 23-year-old will now have an easily affordable contract for the upcoming campaign.
Wahlstrom was limited to only 35 games this past season due to injury, where he posted seven goals and 16 points. Overall, it was another decent year from the youngster when he was healthy, and now he will be aiming to take that next step in his development in 2023-24.
If Wahlstrom has a big camp, perhaps we could see him get some chances in the Islanders' top six. With that, he should see time on their power play.
In 161 career games, Wahlstrom has 32 goals, 29 assists, and 61 points.
We will need to wait and see if Wahlstrom can finally have that much-needed breakout season for the Islanders from here.
