Lafreniere's name has come up in the rumor mill before, and now it appears that he is back on the market given this latest report. There certainly should be a number of teams interested in him, as he is viewed as having a lot of potential. He just has not been able to take that next step with the Rangers during his first three seasons in the NHL.
The 2022-23 was a step in the right direction for the 21-year-old as well. He scored 16 goals and set a new career high with 39 points in 81 games played. However, he also struggled during the postseason, failing to get a single point in seven contests.
It will be interesting to see if the Rangers end up moving the promising youngster. Some teams who could be interested in him include the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, and Vegas Golden Knights.
