NHL Rumors: 2 Teams Eyeing Danton Heinen
We are now over three weeks into free agency, and Danton Heinen is still looking for a new home. Yet, things on that front could change shortly, as the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets are currently eyeing the winger.
The Predators could use more production in their bottom six, and that is something Heinen can provide while playing at his highest level. He would be a decent addition to their third line and would also work on their second power-play unit because of his passing ability. On a cheap one-year deal, this could be an avenue worth exploring for both the player and the team.
The Jets, on the other hand, also should be aiming to improve their bottom six before the start of the season. Their depth on the wings is not necessarily the strongest, so they are in a position to take a chance on a bounce-back candidate like Heinen. Similar to the Predators, Heinen would be in the running for third-line minutes with Winnipeg if signed.
We will need to wait and see if either of these two teams end up bringing in Heinen before the start of the season from here.
