NHL Rumors: 2 Teams Eyeing Zach Aston-Reese

Zach Aston-Reese is still looking for a new home over three weeks into free agency. Although this is the case, things may change on that front soon, as the Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild are two teams currently eyeing the 28-year-old forward.

Aston-Reese spent this past season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he posted 10 goals and 14 points in 77 games played. Overall, he proved to be a decent bottom-six forward for Toronto when called upon. He also is an effective penalty killer, so it makes sense that the Wild and Canucks are considering him.

Aston-Reese would provide Vancouver with another option for their fourth line as they aim to turn things around in 2023-24. He also would immediately become one of their key penalty killers. At a cheap cap hit, he would be a decent option for the Canucks.

The Wild, on the other hand, are looking to boost their bottom six, but they also have limited cap space. Due to this, taking a flyer on Aston-Reese on an affordable one-year deal does make sense for them.

We will need to wait and see if Aston-Reese ends up signing with one of these two teams from here.
