NHL Rumors: 2 Teams Linked to Derek Stepan

Derek Stepan is still looking for a new home as we inch closer to August. The 33-year-old is starting to get some interest around the league, however, as the Anaheim Ducks and Philadelphia Flyers are linked to him.

The Ducks have a plethora of cap space and need to get above the salary cap floor before the start of the season. When noting that they could use a bit of help in their bottom six, it makes sense that they are considering the prospect of taking a chance on Stepan. He would also give them another leader in the locker room as they look to be more competitive in 2023-24.

The Flyers, on the other hand, are another rebuilding team that is looking for more leadership for their young players. Although Stepan is no longer a high-impact forward, he would be a decent addition to the Flyers' fourth line.

We will need to wait and see if either one of these clubs end up signing Stepan before the start of the 2023-24 season from here.
