NHL Rumors: 2 Teams Linked to Pius Suter
We are just about three weeks into free agency, and Pius Suter remains without a home. However, that could change soon, as the Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks are currently linked to him.
The Wild are looking to improve their center depth, and signing Suter would do just that. He would be a candidate to be their third-line center if signed and would be a notable part of their penalty kill due to his solid defensive play. However, he would also be an option for their middle six on the wing because of his excellent versatility.
The Ducks, on the other hand, are in a position to do some major spending. They have a ton of cap space to work with and need to hit the salary cap floor. Suter would give their middle six a nice boost as well. On a cheap one-year deal, Suter could also be a prime rental candidate for Anaheim if he has a good season. Thus, it makes sense that the Ducks are considering signing Suter.
Suter spent this past season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he had 14 goals and 24 points in 79 games played.
We will need to wait and see if either of these clubs end up signing Suter before the summer is over from here.
