NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Tony DeAngelo

The Philadelphia Flyers are buying out Tony DeAngelo, and he will once again be an unrestricted free agent because of it. Due to the 27-year-old's offensive ability, there should be teams out there willing to sign him to a cheap one-year deal. Let's discuss some possible landing spots now.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes are a clear potential landing spot for DeAngelo. A rumored trade between them and the Flyers centering around DeAngelo almost came to fruition this summer. Now that he can be had for a far cheaper price, look for Carolina to be in the mix. This is especially so when noting that he thrived there in 2021-22 and Brett Pesce is also a trade candidate.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars have been looking to improve the right side of their defensive group, and now they have another potential target in DeAngelo. He would give them a solid offensive defenseman and would be a nice replacement for the recently traded Colin Miller.

San Jose Sharks: The San Jose Sharks have been on the hunt for another right-shot defenseman, so they could be a team in the mix for DeAngelo. Star defenseman Erik Karlsson is also expected to be traded, so there could be a spot open in their top four.
