NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Eyeing Matt Dumba

Matt Dumba is the top defenseman still on the market, and interest in his services is starting to increase. The Dallas Stars, Ottawa Senators, and Colorado Avalanche are all currently linked to the 2012 first-round pick.

The Stars have been on the hunt for a top-four defenseman, and it ultimately makes sense. Their right side is not the strongest on paper, and they recently moved Colin Miller to the New Jersey Devils. Thus, adding a player like Dumba would be big for Dallas.

The Senators have been looking to make more additions, and Dumba is one player on their wishlist. The Senators’ right side could use a boost, and this is especially so when noting that Travis Hamonic is a free agent. Dumba would be a perfect addition to their second pairing as Ottawa aims to become a playoff team.

The Avalanche have also been kicking tires on Dumba. After losing Erik Johnson, it appears that they want to replace him with another right-shot defenseman. He would certainly make them look even better on paper.

Let’s see if any of these three clubs can successfully sign him from here.
