NHL Rumors: Frontrunner Emerges for Matt Dumba

Matt Dumba is still looking for his next home, but it seems that a frontrunner has emerged in the sweepstakes. According to Luke Fox, the Arizona Coyotes are the likeliest team to sign Dumba.

The Coyotes and Dumba have had contract talks throughout this summer. Other clubs like the Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, and Toronto Maple Leafs have also been in the mix. However, given this latest report, it seems that Dumba could become a Coyote shortly.

The Coyotes have made it clear that they want to improve in 2023-24. They have added players like Jason Zucker, Alex Kerfoot,  Nick Bjugstad, Troy Stecher, and Sean Durzi this summer. However, bringing in Dumba would become their biggest move of the offseason.

Dumba would provide the Coyotes with a strong top-four defenseman. When looking at their group, he would likely see top-pairing minutes and plenty of time on both of their special team units.

We will now need to wait and see if the Coyotes end up being the team that successfully signs Dumba before the start of the season from here.
