NHL Rumors: Insider Links Blake Wheeler to 4 Teams

After his buyout from the Winnipeg Jets, Blake Wheeler is a free agent and wants to head to the Eastern Conference. In a recent tweet, Pierre LeBrun wrote four possible landing spots for Wheeler. They are as followed: New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, and Florida Panthers.

The Devils are going all-in after their big season, so perhaps they could look to bring in Wheeler. He would be a great fit on their third line and would provide them with more secondary scoring for next season.

The Hurricanes could use some help on the wing. Max Pacioretty is hitting the market, and bringing in another veteran like Wheeler could make sense because of it.

Wheeler previously played for Boston and was traded right before they won in 2011. With the Bruins losing several free agents, perhaps a reunion with Wheeler could make sense if he is open to signing at a cheap cap hit.

The Panthers have been actively looking to add another forward, so it makes sense that they are linked to Wheeler. He would provide their offense with a boost as they look to build off of their postseason success.
