NHL Rumors: Matt Dumba to San Jose Sharks Heating Up
Matt Dumba is one of the best free agents still looking for his new home. Recently on the NHL Network, insider Elliotte Friedman brought up the San Jose Sharks as a possible landing spot for the right-shot defenseman.
Friedman on Dumba (NHL Network): “I don’t know this for sure but suspected that maybe San Jose could have a spot for him there, San Jose is trying to trade Karlsson, they’re still talking to Carolina, they’re still talking to Pittsburgh, at this point in time it hasn’t happened”

It would certainly be intriguing to see the rebuilding Sharks bring in Dumba. However, when noting that they have a lot of cap space to work with, they easily could outbid most teams. With that, Erik Karlsson is expected to be traded, so they will have a major hole on their right side. Thus, Dumba could make sense for them.
Dumba spent this past season with the Minnesota Wild, posting four goals, 10 assists, and a minus-8 rating in 79 games. For his standards, it was a bit of a down year, but he is due for a bounce-back campaign when looking at his past seasons.
We will need to wait and see if the Sharks end up being the club that successfully signs Dumba from here.
