Ottawa Senators Bring Back Travis Hamonic

The Ottawa Senators are bringing back Travis Hamonic, signing him to a two-year, $2.2 million contract. His deal also comes with a no-movement clause.

Hamonic was one of the top remaining free-agent defensemen available, but now he is off of the board. Although he hit the market, he decided to return to the Senators, and now he will continue to be a solid part of their defensive group.

Hamonic appeared in 75 games this past season with the Senators, posting six goals, 21 points, 109 hits, and 71 penalty minutes. Overall, it was another solid year for the 32-year-old, and he will be aiming to replicate it in 2023-24 and onward during this deal.

The Senators' right side has not been the strongest, so bringing back Hamonic ultimately makes sense. He will continue to serve as an important penalty killer and shutdown defenseman for them. We will need to wait and see how much of an impact he makes for them from here.
