Ottawa Senators Rumors: Alex DeBrincat to Detroit Red Wings Imminent

Alex DeBrincat has been heavily linked to the Detroit Red Wings all offseason. Now, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, "we will get some Alex DeBrincat closure in the near future" and Detroit will be the landing spot, "as expected."

DeBrincat has made it known that the Red Wings are one of the teams that he is willing to sign an extension with. It is understandable, as he is a Michigan native. Now, if Friedman's report comes true, the Red Wings will be adding another star to their group.

Friedman noted that he is not sure of the players, contracts, and picks involved in the swap, but that is information that should come to light soon.

DeBrincat appeared in 82 games with the Senators last season, where he had 27 goals, 39 assists, and 66 points. Adding a sniper of his caliber to the top six will be massive for the Red Wings, and it could give them the boost they need to be a playoff team as soon as next season.

Alas, we will need to keep our eye out for an official trade announcement from here.
