Ottawa Senators Rumors: Pierre Dorion Confirms Interest in Star Free Agent

After trading away Alex DeBrincat, the Ottawa Senators have a notable hole in their top six. Vladimir Tarasenko is one free agent who has been linked to them this summer because of it. While on TSN 1200, Senators GM Pierre Dorion confirmed that he has been in contact with Tarasenko's new agent.

This transparency from Dorion shows that the Senators are still very much in the Tarasenko sweepstakes. It is understandable that they want to add him, as he would be a nice replacement for DeBrincat in their top six. After all, while performing at his best, Tarasenko is a high-impact forward with point-per-game potential.

This past season was a down one for Tarasenko, however, as he had 18 goals and 50 points in 69 games played. However, when noting that he just had an 82-point campaign in 75 games the season before, he is a prime bounce-back candidate. Thus, it makes sense that the Senators are willing to take a chance on him.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Senators end up being the lucky team that signs Tarasenko from here.
