Red Wings Make Yet Another Free Agent Addition

The Detroit Red Wings are still making moves. Following their big splash on Day 1 of free agency in landing J.T. Compher, amongst many other additions, they've followed up on Sunday with, albeit, a much smaller splash, but another piece to the puzzle nevertheless.

The Wings sign defensive forward Christian Fischer to a one-year deal worth $1.125M.

The 26-year-old is a former 2nd round pick of the Arizona Coyotes, and spent the first seven years of his career in the desert. The 6'2", 212-pounder is a bottom-six winger who excels on the penalty-kill. He's expected to resume that role with the Wings.

Fischer did add 13 goals this past season, with 14 assists for 27 points in 80 games. He averaged a career-high usage of 14:51 TOI.

GM Steve Yzerman continues his very busy free agent signing spree, as Fischer joins forwards Compher and Daniel Sprong, and defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Justin Holl, along with goaltenders James Reimer and Alex Lyon as new additions to the Motor City.
