San Jose Sharks Rumors: Erik Karlsson to Penguins Heating Up
San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson has been heavily linked to the Pittsburgh Penguins all offseason. According to The Athletic's Rob Rossi, the Penguins are very optimistic about becoming the top choice for the reigning Norris Trophy winner.
The Penguins reportedly have created several strategies to help make a Karlsson trade come to fruition. The biggest obstacle is of course Karlsson's massive salary and finding the cap space to make it happen.
Karlsson has been linked to other teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs, so the Penguins certainly have competition.
Karlsson is coming off of a spectacular season, posting 25 goals, 76 assists, and 101 points in 82 games. This was one a bad Sharks team, so it would be interesting to see what he could do on a much stronger Penguins club.
We will need to wait and see if the Penguins' planned strategies can successfully result in them landing Karlsson before the summer is complete.
