Seattle Kraken Extend Head Coach
After a very successful 2022-23 season, the Seattle Kraken have extended head coach Dave Hakstol through the 2025-26 season.
This extension has certainly been earned, as Hakstol has been a great fit with the Kraken. Heading into the 2022-23 campaign, the Kraken were not expected to be a playoff team, but they ended the year with a solid 46-28-8 record. It is clear that several players have worked well in Hakstol's system, and he is still staying put for multiple years because of it.
Hakstol was previously the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers from the 2015-16 season to the 2018-19 season. In 441 games as a head coach, Hakstol has put together a 207-178-56 record and has made the playoffs three out of six seasons. We will need to wait and see how well he improves upon his coaching record throughout the duration of this new extension with Seattle. When noting that Seattle is a team on the rise, success could be on the way.
