Seattle Kraken Sign Washington Native to One-Year Deal

After a week that saw him traded by the Edmonton Oilers and then bought out by the Detroit Red Wings, Kailer Yamamoto has signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Seattle Kraken.

The Kraken stood out as a possible landing spot for Yamamoto, as he is a Spokane, Washington native, and they have been looking for a middle-six winger. Now, they have one in Yamamoto, and he will be looking to have a nice bounce-back year after his inconsistent 2022-23 season.

Appearing in 58 games this past season, Yamamoto posted 10 goals to go along with 25 points. For his standards, it was a down year, and this is especially so when noting that he had 41 points in 81 games just the season before.

Yamamoto will now look to make an impact for the Kraken. If he has a big year for them, it could lead to him becoming a part of their top six moving forward. Let's see if he can do just that from here.
