Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Star Winger

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Tyler Bertuzzi to a one-year contract, $5.5 million contract.
For multiple seasons, the Maple Leafs have been linked to Bertuzzi. It was never a secret that they like the player, and now they have him signed for the 2023-24 campaign. Big news for a Leafs team looking to go on a run this upcoming season.

Bertuzzi will now provide the Maple Leafs with a top-six forward who plays a gritty style of game. This was certainly needed, as the Leafs have long been criticized for being too easy to go up against. Adding a winger like Bertuzzi could be a good way to help change things on that front. Furthermore, he will serve as an upgrade over recently-departed winger Michael Bunting.

In 50 games this past season split between the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins, Bertuzzi posted eight goals and 30 points in 50 games. However, he heated up following his move to Boston, posting 16 points in regular-season games. He also had five goals and a team-leading 10 points in seven playoff games.

It will be fun to see how well Bertuzzi performs for the Leafs from here. On paper, the fit looks excellent, but let's how it plays out.
