Winnipeg Jets Re-Sign Forward

The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed Morgan Barron to a two-year, $2.7 million cap hit. He will carry a $1.35 million cap hit.

Barron just completed his first full NHL season in 2022-23 with the Jets. Appearing in 70 games, the 24-year-old posted eight goals to go along with 21 points and 118 hits. Overall, it was a decent showing from the 2017 sixth-round pick, and now he will be aiming to build off of it in 2023-24.

Barron is expected to have a bottom-six spot with the Jets next season. Perhaps the departures of Pierre-Luc Dubois and Blake Wheeler could also lead to him receiving more chances on their power play. With that, penalty-kill time should also be in the cards for him.

We will need to wait and see how well Barron performs for the Jets this upcoming season from here. When looking at their group, he is a breakout candidate, so let's see if he can do just that.
