3 Players Jets Could Trade Next

The Winnipeg Jets made some significant moves clearing out some players that either didn't want to be there anymore or needed to move on, but they still have some work to do in that department. Trades might not come until the trade deadline, but players need to be moved. Let's take a look at who could be next.

Connor Hellebuyck

The Jets have the best trade chip in the former Vezina Trophy winning Connor Hellebuyck. He doesn't want to sign, so the team has this season to decide what to do with him. There was a chance that he was going to be traded this offseason while the Jets were clearing out the others, but nothing has happened yet. They signed Laurent Brossoit as a high-end backup to prepare themselves, but if they're going to trade Hellebuyck, that means they aren't exactly in the playoff race.

Mark Scheifele

Mark Scheifele also falls into the category of a talented player with value on a great contract that doesn't want to stick around. He is also going into his final season and there will definitely be interest in a very good centerman coming off of a 42 goal season. His cap hit is also just $6 million AAV, but the Jets would need NHL-ready talent in return like they got for Dubois. Scheifele will definitely attract some attention and could also be moved by the deadline depending on the situation.

Dylan DeMelo

Dylan DeMelo is a bit of a different case. The Jets are needing to clear up roster spots so that Dylan Samberg can play higher in the lineup and so Ville Heinola can finally be called up and stick around. DeMelo is their most likely defensemen to be moved because of his reasonable cap hit of just $3 million AAV. He is going into his final season under contract and right-shot defenders are a little harder to come by. If the Jets are selling, they can easily clear up a spot on defense.
