Anaheim Ducks Forward Suffers Long-Term Injury

According to Derek Lee of The Sporting Tribune, Anaheim Ducks forward Isac Lundestrom suffered an Achilles injury three weeks ago and has had surgery. His expected recovery timeline is six months.

With this news, Lundestrom is set to miss a notable portion of the 2023-24 season. This is certainly disappointing to hear, as the 2018 first-round pick is entering a crucial season for his development. Now, he is likely to be out until late January/early February.

After posting 29 points in 80 games for the Ducks in 2021-22, Lundestrom took a step back this past season, recording four goals and 14 points in 61 games. Yet, the potential to be an effective middle-six forward is there, and now we will need to wait and see how well he performs once he is healthy enough to return.

This injury could lead to the Ducks bringing in another forward before the start of the season. One specific name we should pay attention to is Tomas Tatar.
