Anaheim Ducks Sign Alex Stalock

The Anaheim Ducks have signed Alex Stalock to a one-year, $800,000 contract. It is also a one-way deal.

When looking at the Ducks' roster, it is fair to say that they could have used another goaltender. They lost Anthony Stolarz to the Florida Panthers in free agency, and they did not find a replacement for him. Now, they have another possible backup option in Stalock signed.

Stalock will now be competing with Lukas Dostal for the backup job for the Ducks. Dostal appeared in 19 games this past season with the Ducks, where he posted a 4-10-3 record, a 3.78 GAA, and a .901 save percentage. Stalock, on the other hand, had a solid bounce-back season with the Chicago Blackhawks, posting a .908 SV% and 3.01 GAA in 27 appearances.

At a minimum, the Ducks have simply added to their goaltending depth with this move. Yet, when noting that Dostal is still ineligible for waivers, Stalock may have a better shot of making the team if he impresses at camp.
