Boston Bruins Re-Sign Jeremy Swayman

Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman officially has his new contract. The 24-year-old netminder has been awarded a one-year, $3.475 million contract in arbitration.

This is the second contract of the day for the Bruins, as they also signed Trent Frederic to a two-year, $4.6 million contract. With these moves, the Bruins do not have any more restricted free agents to re-sign.

The Bruins filed $2 million, while Swayman was looking for $4.8 million. The arbitrator has essentially met both parties in the middle, which was the general expectation.

The Bruins will now have Swayman locked up for another season at a reasonable cap hit. Now that his deal is finalized, he will be looking to build off of his strong 2022-23 season. In 37 appearances on the year, he posted a 24-6-4 record, a 2.27 GAA, and a .920 SV%.

Alas, this looks like a good deal for both the player and the team. It will be interesting to see how well Swayman performs during the 2023-24 campaign from here.
