Boston Bruins Sign Alex Chiasson to PTO
The Boston Bruins have signed forward Alex Chiasson to a professional tryout contract.
It seemed likely that Chiasson would at least land a PTO from an NHL club before the start of the season, and now he has officially gotten one from the Bruins. The 32-year-old winger appeared in 20 games last season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he had six goals and nine points. Overall, he did well after earning himself an NHL deal with the Red Wings, but it was still not enough for him to stick around or find a new home elsewhere in the NHL for 2023-24. Now, he is hoping to change that with a strong camp for the Bruins.
The Bruins' fourth-line right wing spot is up for grabs, so it is easy to see why they are taking a shot on Chiasson. If he does well, he could earn himself a league-minimum deal with the club. If not, the Bruins can simply part ways with him, so there is no risk in this move.
