Buffalo Sabres Rumors: Victor Olofsson Linked to New Team

Victor Olofsson has been in the rumor mill all offseason, and there has been some interest in the 28-year-old winger. Now, it appears that a new team has entered the mix, as the New York Islanders are reportedly interested in the scoring winger.

The Islanders desperately need to improve their scoring if they hope to become a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference again. They were in on the Alex DeBrincat sweepstakes before his eventual move to the Detroit Red Wings. As a result, it is understandable that they are now eyeing Olofsson as a consolation prize.

Olofsson is coming off of a solid season that saw him receive limited minutes. In 75 games played, he scored 28 goals and posted 40 points. Olofsson would be a nice addition to the Islanders' middle six and give them another scorer to work with. He also would be a key contributor to their power play.

We will need to wait and see if the Islanders and Sabres end up striking a deal centering around Olofsson before the start of the season from here.
