Capitals Rumors: Washington Still Looking to Make Trades
NHL insider Frank Seravalli recently said that he thinks that the Capitals would "like to find a way to trade Evgeny Kuznetsov" even though the chances of that happening are not very high. He also noted that they still would like to move Anthony Mantha as well.
Kuznetsov and Mantha have been two names in the rumor mill all summer. Kuznetsov is of course the bigger of the two, as there have been several reports that he has requested a trade. With that, he is still a strong top-six center while playing at his best, even after his down 2022-23 season. Mantha, on the other hand, is struggled mightily this past season, and his high cap hit will make it very difficult for them to find him a new home.
In 81 games this past season, Kuznetsov scored 12 goals to go along with 55 points. Mantha, on the other hand, had 11 goals to go along with 27 points in 67 games played.
It will be interesting to see if the Caps can find a way to trade at least one of these two before the start of the season, but their high cap hits will not make that easy in the slightest.
