Colorado Avalanche Sign Matt Stienburg
The Colorado Avalanche have signed prospect Matt Stienburg to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Stienburg became an unrestricted free agent earlier this week after the Avalanche did not sign him to an ELC by August 15. However, although he could have signed with any club as a UFA, he has ultimately decided to join the Avalanche officially.
Stienburg appeared in four games at the end of the season with the Colorado Eagles, where he had one assist in four games played. Before that, he played in 18 contests for Cornell University, posting two goals to go along with seven points.
The Avalanche selected Stienburg with the 63rd overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
It is very unlikely that Stienburg will start the season with the Avalanche, but he should later down the road if all goes well with his development. It will be interesting to see how much an impact he can make for the Eagles this season from here.
