Detroit Red Wings Sign Forward to PTO
According to CapFriendly, the Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Cameron Hillis to a PTO.
Hillis was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the 66th overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. The 23-year-old center has appeared in one NHL game, and that occurred during the 2021-22 campaign with Montreal.
Hillis primarily played for the Indy Fuel of the ECHL this past season, where he had 14 goals and 50 points in 45 games. He also played in 18 games with the Rockford IceHogs, posting two assists and a minus-2 rating.
Hillis will be looking to earn himself a two-way deal or an AHL deal from the Red Wings with a strong tryout. If he does, he could see time on their AHL roster. Overall, there is no harm in the Red Wings taking a look at the Oshawa native. We will need to wait and see if they end up signing him before the start of the season from here.
