Edmonton Oilers to Re-Sign Evan Bouchard
The Edmonton Oilers are expected to re-sign defenseman Evan Bouchard to a two-year, $7.8 million contract, per Elliotte Friedman.
The Oilers had one last big objective left to complete this summer, and that was to re-sign Bouchard. Now, it appears that his new deal is coming to fruition, and it is one that benefits both the player and the team. Bouchard is getting a nice raise, while the Oilers are saving some money by getting him to agree to a bridge deal instead of a long-term one.
Bouchard is a player on the rise who just had a strong season. During the regular season, he had eight goals to go along with 40 points. He was even better in the playoffs, however, as he led all NHL defensemen in points with 17 in just 12 games played.
Overall, this looks like a good deal for everyone involved, and it will be interesting to see how much Bouchard improves during the duration of it.
