Golden Knights Rumors: Alec Martinez Becoming Trade Candidate

The Vegas Golden Knights have limited cap space, and they could look to move a player before the start of the season. Due to this, Alec Martinez is starting to emerge as a potential trade candidate.

Martinez’s name was in the rumor mill leading up to the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, but the Golden Knights opted to keep him around. In the end, it clearly worked out for both the team and the player, but now the Golden Knights may look to move him before the start of the 2023-24 campaign because of their current cap situation and strong defensive depth.

Teams looking to improve the left side of their defensive group could look to take a chance on Martinez. Even at this juncture of his career, Martinez can still handle playing top-four minutes because of his effective defensive play. With that, he has a plethora of experience and has won the Stanley Cup multiple times.

We will now need to wait and see if the Golden Knights end up moving Martinez from here. They would get some much-needed cap space if so, but let’s see if it does in fact come to fruition.
