Islanders Rumors: New York Linked to College Free Agent

Robert Mastrosimone is one of the most notable college free agents who just hit the market. According to Stefan Rosner of The Hockey News, he could be a strong fit for the New York Islanders.

Mastrosimone grew up as an Islanders fan so that naturally could lead to both parties having interest in each other. With that, as noted above, Mastrosimone showed this past season that he has a lot of promise, as he posted 11 goals and 42 points in 38 games played for Arizona State University. With the Islanders needing more production from their forward group, they could consider bringing him into their prospect pool.

Mastrosimone offers solid versatility, too, as he can play the wing and center. Furthermore, if he continues to develop in the right direction, he could end up becoming a solid addition to the Islanders' roster if signed.

We will need to wait and see if the Islanders bring Mastrosimone in, but it looks like there could be a nice match here on paper.
